Treating the dogs involved in Chiang Mai’s car accidents

The WVS Thailand team were recently alerted to a dog in desperate need of their help!

Chokky was brought to our centre in Chiang Mai, having been involved in a car accident. He had a severe open fracture on his back leg and was in a lot of pain. After assessment by the veterinary team, it was decided that the most appropriate course of action was to amputate the leg to prevent further suffering and give him the best chance of a survival.

The operation was successful and Chokky was soon hobbling around on three legs, learning how to navigate his new life!

After a period of rehabilitation at our shelter, he was back to being a healthy and happy dog, running around our shelter on three legs. We’ve also recently been informed that he has been adopted to a new home! We’d like to extend our thanks to all those who support our work by adopting dogs in need like Chokky.

Unfortunately, not all cases like this are as successful. Our team in Thailand are often called upon to treat and care for dogs involved in traffic collisions. You can help be the difference between life and death for a dog like Chokky, who without the aid of the WVS team, would have been unlikely to survive this ordeal.
